About Leander Women+ for Progress
Our Story
Leander Women+ for Progress was born out of a simple, powerful realization: You are not the only one. Following a season of political despair, our founder chose to trade isolation for action—stepping onto the protest line, knocking on doors, and discovering a vibrant, hidden community of neighbors who shared the same vision for a more inclusive Leander. We realized that while the headlines can feel heavy, our local community is filled with hope, conviction, and a desire for change.
Our Mission
We are a women-led (and all genders-invited!) organization dedicated to building a visible, vocal, and connected community of Democrats in the Leander area. We believe that local engagement is the antidote to national anxiety.
What We Stand For:
A Safe Space: We provide a welcoming environment where you can express your values, ask questions, and find your "people" without judgment.
Intentional Connection: We bridge the gap between residents and local candidates, activists, and interest groups. We make the "scary" parts of politics—like advocacy and volunteering—accessible and even fun.
The Power of "We": We celebrate the diversity of our city and work to ensure that every resident feels reflected in our local leadership.
Community First: We aren’t just a political group; we are neighbors. From supporting local shelters to hosting family-friendly gatherings, we invest in the town we call home.
